Hypopressive Techinique
The Hypopressive technique was created by Dr. Marcel Caufriez, who through his dedication to urogynaecological re-education, discovered in the early 1980s that the detrimental effects of performing traditional sit-ups during the postpartum period increase intra- abdominal pressure when the body is not strong enough to performing them.
The Hypopressive technique is a set of specific exercises aimed at the whole body and its integrated relationship with the different systems, which help to recover muscular tone in the abdomen and activate the involuntary fibres within the pelvic floor.
The exercises consist of holding postures and making movements; we contract our diaphragm on expiration which creates a vacuum effect in the abdomen which in turn reduces the intra-abdominal pressure.
